Dr. Patel joins Eye Physicians and Surgeons, P.C. in September of 2024 as the group's Optometric Physician.
Dr. Patel attended Rutgers University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences in 2009. He moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2010 to begin his training at the Rosenberg School of Optometry (RSO), where he graduated with a doctoral degree in 2014.
His clinical internship at RSO included training in primary care optometry, contact lenses, vision therapy, and low vision. Through his clinical externships at the Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth and Sharp Eye Consultants in San Antonio, Dr. Patel received extensive experience in providing primary eye care, specializing in diagnosis and pharmacological treatment of glaucoma and dry age-related macular degeneration, treating superficial ocular inflammation and infections, evaluating diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, diagnosing vitreo-retinal disorders, removing superficial ocular foreign bodies, and surgical co-management of cataracts.
Dr. Patel practiced primary care optometry for ten years in New Jersey prior to relocating to Connecticut. For five years, he provided mobile eye care by performing vision and medical eye screenings at the state-funded NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired for the underprivileged population of New Jersey.
Dr Patel was born and raised as a Gujarati in India, and immigrated to New Jersey as a teenager. He speaks fluent Gujarati and Hindi. During his spare time, Dr Patel enjoys watching American football, playing golf, and traveling and exploring international cuisines with his better half.
