I was diagnosed with keratoconus later in life. Originally my ophthalmologist prescribed gas permeated contact lenses that, given the size of my hands and fingers were impossible to insert properly. In a short time, I became frustrated and simply stopped trying. I lived with this condition for several years until it became unmanageable. I went to another eye doctor in Stratford and the doctor there confirmed that the keratoconus was severe and referred me to Eye Physicians and Surgeons, in Shelton. I was skeptical and initially and wasn’t going to keep the appointment, but I thought I would at least give it chance. I am so glad I did, because Dr. Fabian C. Villacis and his team changed my life. He did a comprehensive exam and found that I was a candidate for scleral lenses, a form of hard contact lenses that comfortably fit over the cone shape of my cornea. These lenses coupled with the care and attention that Dr. Villacis and Melissa, his super-assistant, have given me my life back. I can see clearly both up-close and far-away, in bright light, dusk and nighttime for the first time in at least 10 years. They are an incredible team and I would recommend, without any hesitation, anyone who is having difficulty with keratoconus or any other eye problem to contact them today! You will be so glad that you did! Kevin D., Stratford, CT
