Are injectable fillers the right choice to refresh your face?

What are dermal fillers?

Many people notice undesirable facial lines, shadows and wrinkles as they age. As we age, the
skin and tissues of the face can lose volume, especially around the eyes and lips, which can
create folds, such as “smile lines” or dark shadows under the eyes. If desired, these areas and
others can be addressed with simple, non-surgical treatments utilizing injectable fillers.
Injectable fillers can restore lost volume, and smooth away unwanted wrinkles and shadows
without a trip or the cost of an operating room surgery.
Typically, injectable fillers require minimal recuperation time, and most treatments can be
completed during a single office visit. Results may last up to a year and longer depending on
the type of filler used and the area injected. However, additional treatments are necessary to
maintain results. The relative ease and immediate results of cosmetic fillers make them an ideal
choice for many.

At Eye Physicians and Surgeons P.C., under the experienced guidance of Oculofacial Plastic
Surgeon, Dr. Sana Bautista, we help our patients achieve a fresher look with cosmetic
injectables. Through her extensive training and understanding of facial structure, she can give
you a ‘liquid face lift’ that will draw compliments and look natural.
Areas of treatment:

  • Sunken areas under your eyes
  • Loss of volume in your cheeks
  • Nasolabial folds (the deep lines on either side of your mouth)
  • Marionette lines (the lines from the corners of your mouth down to your chin)
  • Vertical lines around your lips
  • Thin lips

Dr. Bautista customizes each patient’s treatment to match their desired outcome and facial
anatomy. It takes an experienced and trained plastic surgeon to deliver the right amount of filler
to the right location, thereby enhancing your natural youthful look and preventing an “overdone”
look.
What is the difference between different types of Fillers?
Hyaluronic acid is the molecule that is found in skin and joints and offers exceptional
volumization, plumping and hydrating effects. Juvederm fillers containing hyaluronic acid with
similar molecular weights include: Juvederm XC, Juvederm Ultra XC, and Juvederm Ultra Plus
XC.
Other Juvederm filler than have different cross-linked molecular weights of hyaluronic acid (a
hybrid) include Juvederm Volbella, Juvederm Voluma, and Juvederm Vollure.
What does each Juvederm Filler do?
Juvederm XC is designed to plump lips and fill-in moderate to severe wrinkles.
Juvederm Ultra XC is an excellent option for anyone who wants to add volume and definition to
their lips.
Juvederm Voluma XC has the thickest gel formulation, which makes it perfect for deep injection
and augmenting cheeks and lifting the midface.
Juvederm Volbella XC, on the other hand, has the thinnest and most spreadable HA gel. As a
result, it is often recommended for subtle lip enhancement and smoothing vertical lip lines.
Juvederm Vollure falls somewhere in the middle in terms of thickness and spreadability. It is
ideal for smoothing smile lines, also known as nasolabial folds, while maintaining natural facial
expressions.
